No matter how jaded the world becomes, for entertainers, there will always be something special about receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. People come from all over the world to find the stars of their favorite artists. It’s still a sign that you’ve reached a certain level in the industry. Black Celebs Who Recently Received Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Legendary entertainers Melbe Moore and Sheila E. are the latest fan favorites to be honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Melba Moore
If you’re not in the business, or follow these sort of things closely, you may not know that getting a star on the walk of fame costs $75,000. Most of the time, that fee is paid by a production company or movie studio. Sometimes fans or other celebrities will help out to get someone their flowers. That’s what happened with singer Melba Moore, who received a star for Live Theatre/Live Performance. She revealed on Instagram that it was comedian Katt Williams who sponsored her star, writing, “A public thank you to KW He is the sole sponsor of my Star. Katt in me you have a Friend.”
Sheila E.
It’s wild that percussionist/singer Sheila E. is just now getting a star on the walk of fame. She inspired countless young women to become musicians and was one of the contributors who helped shape Prince’s sound. Watching her play percussion is truly like watching artistic master at work. She’s one of one. And if you put “The Glamorous Life” on in a club now, it still hits.
Tupac Shakur
As one of the most influential artists in music history, Tupac was recognized for his work as a musician and actor, His long overdue honor was accepted by his sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur.
Chris “Ludacris” Bridges
Luda received his star for motion pictures, which is a rare feat for rappers turned actors. He was honored by Queen Latifah; LL Cool J; and Vin Diesel. He took time to thank them all for inspiring him. He also celebrated his Fast & Furious co-stars; his own family and those who helped him get to this point.
Martin Lawrence
Michael B. Jordan
The actor was honored ahead of the release of his directorial debut Creed III.
Octavia Spencer
The Oscar-winner received her star before the holiday musical Spirited was released.
Holly Robinson-Peete
The actress/producer was celebrated by her husband Rodney Peete; Magic Johnson; and LeVar Burton.
Ice-T
While being honored in the recording category, Ice-T was surrounded by family, friends and his Law & Order: SVU co-stars.
